When one of your employees suffers a work-related injury, his or her social dynamics and the dynamics of his or her environment change.
The patient, in addition to appropriate healthcare, will require a range of welfare benefits that minimise the effects of the injury.
All actions to help the patient carried out within the social/health field:
- Analysis of the social factors influencing the patient's health- and disease-related situation.
- Treatment of psychosocial distress situations resulting from the patient's deteriorated health.
- Collaboration in the recovery process until the patient has achieved the greatest possible autonomy and is adapted to the environment in the most optimal conditions.
One of our social workers will personally tend to your injured employee and will work and intervene in order to ensure the continuity of welfare benefits parallel to medical treatment, providing appropriate information and vocational guidance in each case.
- We help resolve problems occurring as a result of a work-related injury or occupational disease and/or that are worsened by a work-related injury or occupational disease.
- We help reduce or mitigate the impact of a work-related injury or occupational disease on the patient's psychosocial environment, thus preventing additional problems from occurring.
- We work to ensure full recovery of injured workers, especially those with a serious diagnosis or who are expected to be permanently incapacitated.
- We inform and guide the patient's family members on the mutual society's functions and resources and on other resources that may exist at an EU, local or regional level.
- To the extent possible, we facilitate the victim's return to his or her usual job or to another work activity according to his or her limits, in which case we promote vocational training.
- We advise patients and relatives of workers who have passed away as a result of a Work-related Injury or Occupational Disease so that they are able to obtain the legal benefits and welfare benefits provided by the mutual society and those to which they be be entitled that are provided by public or private organisations and agencies. Also serving as a link between the family and the mutual society.
- We inform companies, workers and trade unions about welfare benefits provided by the Special Benefits Committee, when so required.
- We work with member companies in efforts to reduce absenteeism and to resolve the social problems of its workers in those specific cases when collaboration of the social worker is requested.
- We guide pensioners in procedures required to obtain the various certificates and government benefits resulting from their disability status.
Employees at companies that are a member of FREMAP, and family members of such employees, who have suffered a Work-related Injury or Occupational Disease qualified as serious because of the severity of the lesions, because of the expected length of the sick leave (over 120 days), or because of the likelihood of permanent incapacity in any degree.
We also handle Work-related Injury cases in which patients suffer from a mild condition or cases of temporary incapacity due to a Non-occupational Disease that continue treatment at our medical services and for those where intervention by a social worker is considered appropriate.
